New K2 Flexo Press For Busy British Printer
A busy UK printing company has taken delivery of a new flexographic press produced by K2 International to meet growing demand for its label printing services.
Midland Regional Printers, based in Nottingham, is using the K2 3 Series, four colour 265mm narrow web machine to produce self-adhesive labels for customers in the leisure and entertainment sectors.
The touch screen, PLC-controlled press is equipped with ceramic anilox rolls with doctor blades as well as a range of other features including fully automatic web tension control and rotary scissor slitting. It is the third KDO machine to be supplied to MRP’s Basford facility, which also uses a pair of KDO six colour and seven colour narrow web presses with infra red drying and UV curing units for printing a wide variety of labels.
“This new flexo press provides extra capacity following a significant increase in business for MRP’s label printing services. While other suppliers were considered, K2 had a proven track record and its service is very good,” commented Kevin Brennan, production manager of MRP’s label department.
“The machines are extremely reliable and very little production downtime has been lost through breakdowns over the years. Tool changing and press operation is quick and easy so it made a lot of sense to choose another K2 press to complement the existing flexo equipment,” he explained.
It is the latest contract for the Worcestershire-based manufacturer, who has recently supplied a number of flexo presses to customers in the UK, Scandinavia and India. For more details on K2’s range of flexographic presses and associated equipment you can email us via our Contact Us page.
Flexo Press Maker Flies The Flag For British Industry
Flexo press manufacturer K2 International is flying the flag for British industry after securing a trio of new orders for its versatile label printing equipment.
The Worcestershire-based company has supplied four of its K2 machines to a Danish label printer for a new £1 million production line at a factory near Copenhagen.
A pair of bespoke K2 flexo presses are bring used at Ikon Print for producing high-security RFID tags and labels for libraries. The 3 Series, 265mm web machines were adapted to include a print station and 5 die cutting stations.
K2 also supplied an additional 6 colour 3 Series flexo press equipped with GEW UV drying and overlamination, and a bench top slitter rewinder.
Ikon Print’s managing director Thomas Nielsen was particularly grateful for K2’s technical support throughout the project. “It was very important for us to achieve a specific design so that the presses could be easily integrated with equipment from other suppliers. K2 is very good because the company only thinks in terms of solutions, not problems.”In addition, K2 has produced a special 2 colour modular flexo press for label printer BS Labels. The servo-driven equipment has been retro-fitted on to an existing Ko-Pack machine so the Leicestershire-based business can expand into new markets.
“While other options were set to take between 8 and 16 weeks, K2 was able to produce and install the press within just three weeks. It was an impressive achievement and the service was excellent,” said director Michael Pickering.
Completing the series of new contracts was an order from Advanced Labelling Systems for a second K2 security tag integration press to meet growing demand for its patented label services. ALS, which already uses a number of 2 and 4 colour K2 flexo machines, has integrated this latest press into a specialist printing line at its factory in Oxfordshire.
